As always, our mission-oriented funding supports innovative interventions that remove or address the root causes of systemic barriers to health, safety, shelter and opportunity in the communities where we work and live. After a year like none other, it’s hard to know quite what to say. “Have a happy holiday season” feels insufficient; “thanks for fighting through a global pandemic to serve the community while also engaging in a continued racial reckoning” feels closer to sufficient, but an email newsletter also doesn’t seem like quite the right vehicle to deliver that message.
Rather than using more words to try to express everything this year has meant, both individually and as a collective, we’ve taken inspiration from this New York Times op-ed* and instead offer you just six words each to summarize our experiences of 2020:
The data collected by the census determines the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives; where voting precincts are established; and to how to distribute billions in federal funds to local communities.
This upcoming session hosted by Maryland Nonprofits will bring together a variety of perspectives to discuss what the decennial census means for the nonprofit sector and our role in ensuring an accurate count.
The United Way of Frederick County recently announced their new RFP for the Community Impact Partner Grant Program and their new Community Impact Strategy Map.
Maryland Nonprofits will be hosting a morning session in January to discuss the 2016 presidential election results; hear insider information from legislators and nonprofit advocates; and learn more about Maryland Nonprofits' 2017 policy priorities.
