Lisa M. Clark, Executive Director
Lisa was born & raised in Baltimore, MD and has over 20 years experience in healthcare marketing, business development, strategic planning, corporate governance, and project management.  She is currently the vice president of operations and asset management for SFP Enterprises, a private investment & asset management firm and parent company to SFP Capital, LLC.   Lisa spent the prior decade of her career with XLHealth Corporation in Baltimore, where she served as an executive administrator and assistant secretary to the board of directors.  There, she played an integral role in a $2.4 billion acquisition by UnitedHealth Group, and continued to serve as project manager of government relations & health policy for UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare & Retirement division until leaving in 2013 to join the HJS Foundation.  Lisa is a former board member of Challengers Independent Living, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides life skills services & training to Maryland teens who are living in foster care.  She continues to serve the organization in an advisory capacity.   Lisa currently resides in Reisterstown, MD with her son, forever-beau, five species of independently-tanked piranhas, and two beloved fur-children -- a French bulldog and a Boston terrier.

Kerry A. McHugh,VP, Program Officer
Kerry was born & raised in Annapolis, MD, land of crabs and Old Bay. She received her eminently practical B.A. in History with minors in Sociology and English Literature from New York University in 2008. She has a background in marketing, working first with a niche publisher of military history titles and then for an advertising agency serving non-profit and government clients before leaving the advertising world to join the Foundation. Kerry also serves as Membership Co-Chair for the Frederick Steeplechasers Running Club, and as a Planning Committee Member for the Frederick County Nonprofit Summit. She previously served on the board of the Friends of the Light House, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for The Light House, a homeless prevention support center in Annapolis. Kerry and her husband Kevin currently reside in Frederick.

Paul A. Serini, Esq., Chairman
Paul is a 1980 honors graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park.  He received his juris doctor (JD) degree from the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University of America in 1983, where he continues to serve as an adjunct faculty member, lecturer and principal member of the Board of Visitors. Paul has over 35 years of healthcare, corporate governance, finance, securities regulation and legal experience.  He is a prior partner of Venable Law Firm in Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD and founder and senior executive of multiple healthcare operating companies as well as a Washington, DC-based health policy consulting firm.  He co-founded and served as Executive Vice President of XLHealth Corporation, a $2.7 billion dollar Baltimore-based Medicare Advantage insurance plan, for more than a decade.  After XLHealth was acquired by UnitedHealth Group, he served as Chief of Government Relations & Health Policy for UnitedHealthcare's Medicare & Retirement division until retiring in 2013 to pursue blue water sailing, private investing (SFP Capital LLC) and asset management (SFP Enterprises), and philanthropy.  Paul is married with three wonderful grown children.  He and his wife, Susan, currently divide their time between Annapolis and the British Virgin Islands.

Susan M. Serini, Treasurer
Sue began her career in the legal field and worked as a legal secretary until retiring in 2003.  After developing a passion for the mental, spiritual, health and fitness benefits of yoga, she attended the Bikram Yoga School to become a certified yoga instructor and is currently teaching Bikram Yoga in the Baltimore and Annapolis, Maryland area.  Susan actively volunteers through the Caring Canines organization with her certified therapy dog, Tobin, a French Bulldog who mistakenly thinks he's a person. With Paul, she divides her time between Annapolis and the British Virgin Islands.

P. Alex Serini, Board Member
Alex was born & raised in Annapolis, Maryland and graduated from Severna Park High School in 2007.  He attended Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island and Denver, Colorado to pursue his passions for cooking, hospitality and business. He is the current owner/operator of A Tavola, a private chef services & catering company, and he flexes his culinary muscles at Brew House No. 16, a gastropub located in a converted fire station in Baltimore, Maryland. While Alex has no pets of his own, he volunteers with Mid-Atlantic Bully Buddies as a foster dog-dad, giving bully breeds a loving place to stay while they wait for their fur-ever homes.

Jana M. Serini, Board Member
Jana was born & raised in Annapolis, Maryland and graduated from Indian Creek Upper School in 2014. An avid reader and lover of gaming, pop culture and Star Trek, Jana attends Towson State University and is majoring in Family Studies with a focus on children and youth.  She is the family's go-to dog sitter, dog walker, dog petter, dog snuggler, and dog Instagram-er.

Robert H. Geis, Jr., Esq., Board Member
Bob was born & raised in Baltimore, Maryland and is a certified public accountant and Counsel at the Maryland-based law firm, Miles & Stockbridge P.C., where he has been providing tax, business and estate planning advice to individuals, businesses and business-owners for over 20 years.  Geis graduated cum laude from Loyola College in Maryland receiving his B.A. in 1981.  He then attended & received his M.P.A. from the University of Texas and subsequently his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1989.  Bob joins the HJS Foundation board with a wealth of knowledge & experience relating to estate planning and nonprofit foundations, with accolades including the Wall Street Journal Award, Economics Medal, Lybrand Accounting Medal and being listed as one of the Best Lawyers in America, Tax Law by Woodward/White, Inc.  Miles & Stockbridge P.C. serves as legal counsel to the Foundation.

Kevin McHugh, Board Member
Kevin is an experienced healthcare consultant working in the privatized Medicare arena. A New Englander at heart (Go Pats), Kevin lives in Frederick, Maryland, with his wife, Kerry, their rescued pup, Indiana Jones (who is named after the Dr. Henry Jones, Jr.), and their cat, Po (who is not named after Edgar Allan). He is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Public Administration and Policy at American University.


Advisors

David Rosen, JD, CPA, RS&F CharteredAccountant and Advisor to the Board. David and his accounting firm, RS&F Chartered of Baltimore, Maryland, are the accountants for the Foundation, and routinely provide tax, compliance and related financial reporting advice to the board and management. David also serves a similar role for the family, and for its affiliated entities, SFP Capital and SFP Enterprises. 

David Gilner, CFA, Strategic Financial Group, Investment Advisor to the Board. David, a resident of Raleigh, North Carolina, serves as the principal investment officer and investment advisor for the Foundation, the family and its various affiliated entities, and serves as trustee of various family trusts.
